Making Madison More

accessible

holistic transportation

    • Expand transportation options with bike lanes, public transit, sidewalks, accessible neighborhood planning.

    • Expand public transit throughout District 7.

    • Improve transit schedules and affordability.

As a former member of the city’s Transportation Policy and Planning Board, I am the only candidate that understands Madison’s transportation challenges are not limited to busing and roads. Transportation is a holistic network, ranging from public transit to bike lanes, sidewalks, parks, and parkways. Common Council, I will continue fighting for an accessible, reliable, and flexible transit network.

    • Support more Safe Streets Madison Policies

    • Reduce speed limits in high-traffic areas to protect pedestrians and commuters alike.

    • Improve pedestrian spaces like sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian crossings.

    • Reduce congestion through smart traffic management.

On the Transportation Board, I worked to implement Safe Streets Madison that seeks to reduce traffic fatalities by revitalizing Madison’s traffic infrastructure.

    I have already helped deliver:

    • 2.8 million miles of new bike lanes

    • 1.5 miles of pedestrian accommodations and sidewalks

    • 14 miles of seed limit reduction through this program.

I will continue fighting for alternative transit initiatives to keep District 7 accessible and realize our goal of 0 traffic casualties.

    • Invest in green transit solutions, like electric buses.

    • Continue to fight for Complete Green Streets policies.

    • Upgrade roads with climate-resilient materials.

    • Support infrastructure that reduces emissions, like LED streetlight conversion.

In addition to Safe Streets Madison, I also helped initiate Madison’s Complete Green Streets Guide to reallocating city funds for alternative, sustainable, and safe transit projects. This work has focused new transit projects on ensuring equity, alleviating high frequency routes, accommodating high-comfort bikeways, and increasing opportunities for tree canopy and green infrastructure. On the Common Council,I will continue fighting for a complete network of sustainable transit, connecting all people of all ages and abilities across our District and city.

Affordable Housing

Protecting the American Dream

Fight for equitable access. Fight against displacement

  • Work with local builders and contractors to build plenty of homes of all shapes and sizes for all types of people.

  • Support Madison’s housing choice efforts such as land-banking and co-opts.

  • Give Madison a fair share of state funds.

When I arrived in Madison in 2003, I gratefully attained the American dream: education, family, and home ownership. Unfortunately, in today’s world, that dream is out of reach for many. With an exploding rate of housing costs and stagnant housing options, we need creative and local solutions to alleviate the inaccessibility of buying a home in today’s climate. Having worked with state and local leaders over my 20 years of public service, I will continue to collaborate with them to protect and expand affordable, diverse housing.
