My name is Badri Lankella & I am…
…A Proud Immigrant and Madisonian.
Born in India, I arrived in the US at age 20 with a BS in Civil Engineering and $500 in my pocket. Seeking opportunity and the American dream, I worked as a computer engineer before moving to Madison in 2003. Earning my degree from the University of Madison, I want to give back to the community with my education.
…A Lifelong Public Servant and Engineer.
In the two decades since making Madison home, I have worked for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and the Department of Natural Resources, where I currently serve as the Chief Application Architect working to design and approve environmentally sustainable infrastructure for Wisconsin’s future. Prior to the COVID pandemic, I served on the Transportation Policy and Planning Board, utilizing my extensive experience to advocate for data-driven, equitable transportation solutions that prioritize sustainability and accessibility for all Madisonians. As your city alder, I bring my analytical skills and extensive transportation and infrastructure experiences to the complex issues facing our city.
…A Devoted Husband and Father of Two.
I have worked to support my family and students in our community through my leadership on PTO’s, the Madison Public School Foundation, and the North South Foundation. Raising my children in Madison’s public schools, I believe that every child deserves to receive a high quality, accessible education. My involvement in these foundations has provided students the resources and environment to reach their full potential. As your city alder, I will ensure our schools continue to deliver safe and enriching environments for our future leaders.
In my two decades living in Madison, I have led a wide range of community and service nonprofits. For the past 7 years, I have served as both Treasurer and board member of the Ice Age Falls Neighborhood Association in West Madison, transforming the group’s finances from a deficit to a budget surplus. I have served as the President of the city’s Indian Association and Telugu Community, bringing my data-driven professional experience to several nonprofit and community organizations. I was a member Joint Campus Area Committee and proudly served as an executive board member for Democratic Party of Dane County (DaneDems).
